The Rebound Effect: Implications of Consumer Behaviour for Robust Energy Policies

In 2011 Elena Verdolini participated in an expert workshops on the subject of “Energy Efficiency Policies and the Rebound Effect”, in Washington DC,  organised by The Climate and Energy Decision Making Center at Carnegie Mellon University (USA).

The concluding report published by the International Risk Governance Council : ‘The Rebound Effect: Implications of Consumer Behaviour for Robust Energy Policies’ is now available online and currently in printing.

This collaborative peer-reviewed research report aims to raise awareness among scientists, industry experts and policy makers about the extent of the rebound effect and suggests areas where research is needed to better inform science-based energy policies. The report presents a review of the literature on the rebound effect in energy efficiency and draws on findings from the two expert workshops.
